North Down DUP MLA Gordon Dunne has welcomed the Green Light for online Electoral Registration. The MLA added:

‘I am pleased that the Electoral Office has now got online registration activated to allow people to apply to get on the Electoral Register in Northern Ireland. This is an important step forward  and I very much welcome it and it brings Northern Ireland in line with the rest of the UK, as Northern Ireland was the only region without the ability to apply online for the Electoral Register. This new online facility also provides people with the ability to update their details e.g. change of address, name etc and should streamline the process for people.

I would encourage people to check out the websitewww.gov.uk/register-to-vote and ensure their details are correct and to ensure they are on the register if they are not currently registered. It is important that people are on the Electoral Register to ensure they can have a vote in any future elections or referendums. If anyone has any queries in terms of registration I would be happy to try and assist people and can be contacted on 02890 423322 or email info@gordondunne.org
