'I am very alarmed and saddened that the Danske Bank is set to close its doors. This is very sad news and is yet another blow to Bangor Town Centre. Bangor Town Centre has suffered a number of setbacks in recent years with stores closing their doors and I believe Council must now step up progress in bringing real regeneration into Bangor.
Our Town Centres have been aesthetically improved through Public Realm Schemes which have given them a face lift, however there is still a real need to boost the offering in Bangor Town Centre.
The Danske Bank formerly the Northern Bank has been a part of Bangor for many years and my sympathies go out to any staff who may be affected by this closure. We need to see Bangor Town Centre transformed with real investment and new businesses coming in and creating sustainable jobs and retail offerings. This is another sad day for our town centre and I will certainly be doing all I can and work with Council and other stakeholders on this issue.'
